Sometimes I Get Drunk At Night |
when one drink turns fast into five. This website is for discovering new music. If you find a band you really enjoy, go to their show, buy a shirt, or do something to show your support. Bands don't make much money from album sales anyways. However, if you just download their music and that's it, then the band doesn't make anything at all and they probably won't make anymore music for you to listen to. The music on this blog is for promotional uses only. Vist the original SIGD (450+ Artists!) @ http://sometimesigetdrunk.blogspot.com |
We will begin preorders for the new Peace Be Still 7” EP on the same day as the You’ll Live, Cheyenne, Two Humans, Peace Be Still split goes up. Look for a bundle deal!!
These two records and the William Bonney record are all coming out around the same time. If you previously ordered Good Vibes and want either of the 7”s, just add a note to your order saying you have ordered Good Vibes. I will remove the shipping charge from the other order so you get all the records at once and don’t pay extra for shipping.
Go on our bandcamp tomorrow to listen to a couple new songs from this EP, the band and myself are really excited to share it with you! I feel spoiled that I have been listening to it bunches.
We will begin preorders for the 4 way split with You’ll Live, Peace Be Still, Two Humans, and Cheyenne on April 20 @ 16:20 EST. 400 will be “black cat” and 100 will be “calico cat”. Don’t forget to bring a towel!
Stay tuned for announcement on Peace Be Still EP and bundle deals!
You’ll Live - Above the Weather
1st Pressing Special Jacket - Clear/Frosty /250
Sometimes I Get Drunk / Dog Knight
I don’t even need a photographer, you guys take the beauts yourselves!
Check out this You’ll Live review from Modern Vinyl! 5/5 packaging! 4/5 overall!
“A limited amount of copies of Above The Weather include what’s likely the most inventive packaging to come out of a DIY label this year.”
I would just change there were only about 40 orders that got the special jackets instead of 100, and also would like to see a mention of Dog Knights Productions for being a big part of this “signing”. Other than that, :D
Excited to announce we will be working with Dog Knights Productions on You’ll Live’s (member of You Blew It!) Above the Weather. Video explains the interactive record jacket concept I came up with. More details, inclusing a preorder date, soon!
The initial preorders should be shipping out tomarrah. !!!
New Look! New News!
Making things look sharper around here on at SIGD Records. Most of what I want is done, but expect little tweaks here and there. Check out the new stuff on the sidebar like the Gallery and stuff. Ok, news time:
1) Peace Be Still love the States! Peace Be Still finished up their first stint in the states a week or so. I was lucky enough to tag along and oversee things/be homeless with them. They are currently in the studio recording two new songs, one of which is going to featured on the Topshelf Records 2012 Sampler!
2) William Bonney preorders will be back up soon! Things I running smoothly with the record. In the next week or two we will open up a bit more of preorders for the album. For those of you that e-mailed me, you will be the first to know the specific date and time. If you would like to know, just throw and e-mail to: info@sigdrecords.com with the heading “William Bonney Boner” or something clever like that.
3) We have our next release lined up for after William Bonney! We will be working with Chalk Talk on the release of their one-sided twelve inch called Bad Influences. I just got ahold of the master audio files the other day, and I am extremely excited for this one. Also, if you are from Europe, make sure to check for tour dates in the near future (August/September) for Chalk Talk and Everyone Everywhere. Hint, hint!
4) We will be moving headquarters! Metro Detroit is nice, but we are moving ourselves and our operations into Ann Arbor, Michigan. I guess that could still be considered metro detroit to some. Speaking of Ann Arbor, congrats to Brave Bird (A² natives) for their recent signing to fellow (better) midwest indie label Count Your Lucky Stars!
5) The Family Might/Badgerhunt split is put on the backburner :( We unfortunately won’t be doing this release with Carucage Records because of band stuff. We hope the best for them, and once they have things figured out hopefully this yet-to-be-released split will see the light of day and get a wax treatment.
6) We have some shirts left from Pouzza! Explore the sidebar to find the shirt (Click “More”), more information can be found there.
I think that’s all for now. Enjoy the lovely summer weather/zombies!
Drinking: Founder’s All Day IPA; ABV: 4.7% Beer Advocate: 88/100
As you may or may not know, I’m a big fan of the IPA’s. I was very surprised with how light this beer tasted compared to other IPA’s I have had. Maybe that is why it is called “All Day” because it isn’t as heavy so you can drink it “all day”. The artwork certainly alludes to a sunny, fun camping trip that probably would encourage extended periods of sipping on this beer. Perhaps if you know someone that is not a big fan of strong, thick hoppy beers, then maybe this would be a good introduction to a lighter IPA. Think of it as more of a British IPA. We tend to think of IPA’s having a higher ABV in the States, but it turns out the British have been brewing IPA’s under 4% since the 1920’s. IPA’s in England tend to be of a low gravity.
Spinning: They Make Beer Commercials Like This by Minus the Bear (2004)
Talk about becoming a household name, Minus the Bear went from the noodley, dancy emo/indie rock to an extremely accessible indie band. Generally when asked what kind of bands I like, I tend to include Minus the Bear not because they are one of my favorite bands, but because I know the person is more likely to know who they are.
I chose this album not only because it is my favorite of theirs, but because the whole camping trip image on “All Day IPA” fits perfectly with the lyrics to my favorite song “Houston, We have Uh-Oh”:
“We go home, after fishin’ all day
and get our hands dirty getting the catch clean
and mike is in the kitchen
he’s heating up the fry pan
and we’re in the front yard
we’re watching the sun fall”
This song is one of the B-sides. If Minus the Bear did a compilation of their rarities and b-sides, I would buy it in a heartbeat. Simply because they tend to not want to include songs on their albums that I tend to really enjoy.
Here’s to summer, and to many camping trips ahead.
Very excited to launch Sometimes I Get Drunk Records. Currently taking preorders for Adaje/Lizards Have Personalities split and Peace Be Still’s debut LP “64”. Thanks for any and all support, I’m going to need it to help get this off the ground.
Better looking site with it’s own domain coming soon.
